There’s nothing quite like biting into a piece of rich, creamy fudge. It’s like a little slice of heaven melting on your tongue. Some of my fondest memories revolve around making fudge with my grandma on Sunday afternoons. The kitchen filled with the sweet aroma of melting chocolate, and the anticipation of that first taste was almost too much to bear.
- 3 cups of sugar,
- 3/4 cup of butter,
- 2/3 cup of evaporated milk,
- 12 oz of semi-sweet chocolate chips,
- 7 oz of marshmallow creme,
- 1 cup of chopped walnuts (optional),
- 1 tsp of vanilla extract,
Line an 8-inch square pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal. Set aside.
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the sugar, butter, and evaporated milk. Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture comes to a full rolling boil.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the chocolate chips until fully melted and combined. Then, blend in the marshmallow creme, nuts (if using), and vanilla extract until smooth.
Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula. Let the fudge cool to room temperature, then chill in the refrigerator for 2-3 hours until set.
Once set, use the parchment paper overhang to lift the fudge out of the pan. Cut into squares and serve. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature.
